MY FATHERSo, I get a call at about 11:45
last night from sister. She tells me that my father may have had a slight stroke and he in the ER in some rural town
in Iowa. My heart stopped, the time stopped and every thing that is precious in life, presented itself. It
turns out that the silly old man was not taking the wrong dose of his blood pressure medication. I love you, Dad
but shame on you! The good news is that he did not have a stroke. It was some type of reaction to the medication.
He is going to go and get another check up, here in the Twin Cities. They should have done a brain scan but they only
did an EKG. The good news, is that he appears to be okay. It's amazing to me, when you receive a call like
that late at night. Guilt, regrets and reminiscing all take place at once! The first thing that came to my head
was, "He only lives in Andover and my efforts in visiting him more often were weak". A good lesson last night,
I guess.
